The IEC released the overseas votes totals this morning and the Democratic Alliance won close to 77% of these votes.
Two things are clear from this result:
1) South Africans abroad to do not want the ANC in Government
2) The majority of South Africans abroad see the DA as the only alternative to replace the ANC government.

The IEC has launched a new service on their website that allows South Africans living abroad to check if their special votes application was successful or not.
Click here and simply fill in your ID number.
You will then know if you are able to vote at your foreign mission on 15 April!

The period to apply for a special vote closed at midnight on Friday, 27 March 2009.
This means that if you did not submit your VEC10 form before this deadline you will not be able to vote on 15 April – the special voting day abroad.

The IEC have changed the VEC10 form to make it easier for you to complete.
You can find the new Vec10 form here
You do not have to resubmit your application if you have already applied for a special vote with the old form.
Please get your forms in before midnight on 27 March 2009.

You do not have to fax or post your VEC10 forms to the IEC anymore.
Now you can email your VEC10 forms to vec10@elections.org.za.
Make sure you submit your form before 27 March 2009.

Today, the Constitutional Court ruled ruled in favour of the DA’s court application that South Africans who are living temporarily abroad and who are registered as voters must be allowed to cast their vote in the upcoming elections.

The IEC has just informed the DA that they have decided to open the foreign mission in Wellington New Zealand on 15 April.
This means that South Africans in New Zealand no longer have to travel to Canberra in Australia to vote.
